Art Show

The Group holds an annual Art Show in the Village Hall during the early May Bank Holiday. This traditional event is very popular with local residents and visitors from further afield, providing an opportunity for our artists to talk about their work with buyers who like to buy original works and walk the footpaths around the Downs and Cliffs.

The Show emphasises the talent and diversity of styles and subject matter within the group.

We showcase and sell our works and raise funds with a raffle and tombola which contribute towards our annually nominated local charities. There is a children's table, and our pop-up kitchen provides refreshments and homemade bakes which are always popular with our visitors and artists!

The 2026 Show

This was held over the Bank Holiday weekend 2/3/4 May 2026 Flyer and Press Release. Another record breaking success with members showcasing over 200 framed and over 70 unframed original paintings along with a glorious variety of cards all including landscapes, figures, still life, birds, animals and abstract in a range of media.

New this year was the sale of Art Bites - small paintings on canvas prepared by our members, with all proceeds going to our nominated charity. See foot of page for some of the hanging paintings in the 2026 Show. The event was opened by local artist Alice Hesketh who specialises in contemporary figurative paintings and drawings, and who was a contestant in the Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year 2025 (series 12). The tombola and raffle contributed to the Group's chosen charity of the year, St Wilfrid's Hospice.

The 2025 Show

This was held over the Bank Holiday weekend 3/4/5 May (2025 Flyer). A record breaking success where our members showcased framed and unframed original paintings along with a splendid variety of cards. The show was opened by local artist Julian Sutherland-Beatson, who exhibits worldwide including at the Royal Academy and Glyndebourne Opera House. The tombola and raffle contributed to the Group's chosen charity of the year, the Matthew 25 Mission.
